Abstract : The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of parents' parenting attitudes, depression on lifesatisfaction of middle school students and confirm the mediated moderating effects of self-identity. This studyused data from the third wave of Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS). The subjects consisted of2259(male 1140, female 1119) middle school 1st graders. To accomplish this, parents' parenting attitudes, depression, self-identity, and life satisfaction were measured. The results were analyzed by Baron & Kenny's and Sobal's mediated effect analysis. A summary of the results of this study is as follows. Firstly, parents' parenting attitudes(abuse, neglect) hadnegative effects on life satisfaction, depression had mediating effects between parents' parenting attitudes andlife satisfaction significantly. Secondly, the mediated moderating effect is existed as the mediated effect ofself-identity on the effect of parents' parenting attitude(abuse, neglect) on life satisfaction has increased byinteraction of parents' parenting attitudes(abuse, neglect) and depression. Our result gives an understanding of life satisfaction of youth and it indicates the degree of parents' parentingattitudes should be considered.
