그레이 기반 k-NN 대체법에서 근접이웃의 수는 각 개체에 대해 그레이 관계 등급이 가장 큰 순서에 따라 정렬을 한 후에 동일한 수의 k가 결정된다. 거리 기반 k-NN 대체법 뿐만 아니라 그레이 기반 k-NN 대체법에서는 k에 따라 결과가 달라지게 되므로 근접 이웃의 수 k의 결정이 중요한 문제이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 각 개체에 대해 서로 다른 근접 이웃의 수를 선택할 수 있는 새로운 그레이 기반 gamma-cut NN 대체법을 제안하였다. 이 논문에서 제안한 그레이 기반 gamma-cut NN 대체법은 그레이 기반 k-NN 대체법의 가장 좋은 방법과 비슷한 결과를 나타내고 있다. 제안한 그레이 기반 gamma-cut NN 대체법은 Huang & Lee(2004)의 대체법과 평균대체법보다 좋은 결과를 나타낸다.
