This research aims to study the original meaning of writing method ‘三多(Three things to do): 多讀, 多作, 多商量’ of Koo Yang Su(1007-1072). Many Korean people interpret ‘商量’ as just thinking or meditating, and change the order from ‘多讀, 多作, 多商量’ to ‘多讀, 多商量, 多作’. But it raises doubts whether this is the right interpretation, so I want to focus on the meaning of ‘商量’ and to study the original meaning of ‘三多’. First, I researched how ‘三多’ & ‘商量’ are interpreted in China, Taiwan, Japan, and how ‘三多’ & ‘商量’ are used in Chosun. As a result, it is reasonable to interpret ‘商量’ as ‘Revising manuscript’. So I checked that ‘三多’ is the writing method as ‘Reading a lot, Writing a lot, Revising a lot’ in regular order. In addition, I could see that ‘多讀’ & ‘多作’ are corresponded to the basic process and ‘多商量’ is corresponded to the deepening process.
