유전성 갑상선 수질암은 MEN2A와 MEN2B 및 FMTC로 나누어지며, 상염색체 우성유전을 하고 RET 원종양유전자의 돌연변이에 의해 발생한다. 저자들은 MEN2A와 FMTC가 동반된 한 가계를 대상으로 시행한 RET 유전자분석에서 3대에 걸쳐 codon 618에서 TGC (Cyc)가 CGC(Arg)로 치환된 증례를 경험하여 문헌고찰과 함께 보고 하는 바이다.
