The purpose of this study was to develop an evolution learning program based on the life history on earth and evolutionary psychology for pre-service elementary teachers. For this, I analyzed the current curriculums, natural selection learning programs at the Mathematics/Science Education Center of Wisconsin-Madsin University, and various evolution-related literatures, and developed a program for a semester’s learning. In the program, each class takes 90 minutes, and its contents are largely divided into 3 sections. The first section, which is covered in class 1~8, is the history of life on earth and the lectures are given mainly using graphics and pictures. The second section, which is covered in class 9~10, is natural selection theory and these classes are mainly composed of student activities. The third section, which is covered in class 11~13, is a learning program related to the understanding of evolutionary psychology. The developed program was applied to 104 pre-service elementary teachers, and its effect was analyzed by testing change in the students’ understanding of concept about evolution using the 3 dimensional framework on evolution concept changes. According to the result, the program was highly effective in correcting the subjects’ misconceptions.
