The purpose of this study was to compare the abductive thinking processes between the literature research, ‘DNA: the secret of life' and biologist's knowledge generation processes and to develop the extended abduction model. After the abductive thinking processes were analyzed on DNA double helix's discovery processes by historical accounts methodology, and was compared with biologists' of prior research. As a result, the abductive thinking types were found in the extended abduction model, which were all kinds declarative of questions, tentative explicans, test method & evaluating criteria, conclusion and the interaction between these and the abduction thinking like the representing, comparing, borrowing, combining, generating, inventing, drawing. Therefore, the extended abduction model found in the scientific knowledge generation can help the growth of a creative knowledge generation of students and offer a primary basis of teaching-learning strategy framework. Moreover the extended abduction model is possible to give a adequate treatment instrument evaluating the ability of scientific knowledge generation.
