The purpose of this study was to analyze explanation method of elementary science teacher's guidebook(6th grade) regarding biological phenomena. For this study, the explanation methods of science-teacher's guidebook were divided into causal explanation and teleological one. The unit of analysis was the sentences related to the casual explanation and teleological explanation presented in the three units of the teacher's guidebook(6th grade) of science in the 7th curriculum. In the results of investigating the science teacher's guidebook, it took 73% as for the casual explanation, while 27% of whole texts were occupied to the teleological explanation. In specific, the casual explanation took the highest rate in the「The living creatures around us」unit, and the unit of「A pleasant environment」contained the most contents of teleological explanation. It showed different features according to the characteristics of each unit.
