This study aims at analyzing students' learning strategies used for learning English and investigated the relationship between their learning strategies and learner variables such as perception toward computer-assisted language learning (CALL). A questionnaire, which was developed based on Oxford(1990)’s SILL (Strategy Inventory of Language Learning), was administered to 71 students taking a CALL course “Applied Internet English” offered at A University in Seoul. Data collected from 67 students were statistically analyzed. The major findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, analysis results revealed that students were moderately interested in using learning strategies in a CALL environment. Secondly, motivations underlying learning strategies were also measured as subscale. Thirdly, it was also found that student learning strategies are closely associated with their perceptions toward CALL. Fourthly, there were no significant relationships between learner variables such as gender, academic year and major and learning strategies although gender difference was observed in the use of Cognitive strategies. Based on these findings, it is assumed that students used CALL resources to access information on English learning, acquire English skills in a natural and authentic learning environment and understand English-dominated culture. Considering that understanding learning process is therefore very important to develop CALL-based programs, the study provides valuable insight into college students' learning process in a CALL context.
