This study focuses on the problems of translating figurative language. Such problems are caused by the semantic features of a figurative expression in the source language which cannot be culturally matched in the target language. Crucially, the relationship of semantic features to the meaning of a figurative expression entails cultural factors as well. Accordingly, this study revisited issues on the translation of figurative language and found that the meaning of figurative expressions can be skewed when features of meaning that connate the domain are ignored.
