This article analyses the Structure and method of description of Guitianlu(歸田錄). Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) wrote politics , society, culture of Song(宋) dynasty in Guitianlu(歸田錄). Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) is an excellent writer and a great historian. But Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) refused to be an objective historian. He refused to criticize other people’s evil doings while focusing on their positive sides in Guitianlu(歸田錄). Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) took Li Zhao(李肇)’s Tang guoshi bu(唐國史補) as a model, except that he did not write badly about the persons mentioned. Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) has included a lot of things he personally had experienced as member of the court officialdom. For this reason his book has also a historiographical value. It is due to the censorship who emperor of that time, Shenzong(神宗) did. Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) deleted some records and added the other records for the censor before publication. Also, He used the methods called Hujianfa(互見法) and dialogic style and Vivid speech that Simaqian(司馬遷) used method of description in Shiji(史記). Ouyang Xiu(歐陽修) tried a new writing style of Chinese Classical Prose by writing Guitianlu(歸田錄) that inclued the history of those days, Northern Song Dynasty. Guitianlu(歸田錄) is rich in literary value and historicity value.
