“If you can make it, you can fake it.” Almost any product can be and has been counterfeited.
Today, the problem of counterfeit goods has become a global epidemic that accounts for as much as seven percent of global trade. Despite sustained efforts by many stakeholders, the problem of counterfeit goods continues to grow unabated through more creative and elusive means. However, it is possible to defend against counterfeiting. By approaching the problem of counterfeiting through the lens of intellectual property rights, this Article will describe the civil, criminal, and border measures that are available and the government initiatives that are in place to fight counterfeiting in Korea.
