When we take a look into each meanings Polysemy carry, there are certain meanings that should be categorized differently in another level. This phenomenon can cause various problems in the field of Korean language education. For instance, in a case of a Polysemy vocabulary which is usually considered as elementary level, some other meanings of intermediate or advanced level that this vocabulary carries can be undervalued or even discarded, causing difficulties in learning and teaching vocabulary. Therefore, it would be necessary to categorize the meanings of Polysemy into different levels. This study focuses on the importance of Polysemy in vocabulary education and carries the ultimate goal of setting the direction for a more meaningful Polysemy education for Korean language learners. To this end, this study looks into the verb ‘보다’, a Korean vocabulary of a high polysemic level that carries the most diverse meanings, and how it is covered in Korean teaching materials. Also, this study suggests a criteria for categorizing the meanings of ‘보다’ based on each meanings’ level of difficulty. Especially, this study classifies and categorizes the ‘N+보다’ collocation in order to arrange a more efficient learning and teaching mechanism.
