Many kinds of motivation theories have been developed so far. However, these theories have been criticized because of its limitations in relation to explain the human behavior and solve the motivation problems in organizations. This study tried to explain the reasons of the limitations on the basis of the self theory that each motivation theory underlines. Also, a Buddhist's perspective about the self is suggested as an alternative to be used to develop integrated motivation theory. The Buddhist sees the self as a cognitive process which consists of eight think bases. This study introduces it and explains its relation to motivation theories. Finally, utilizing the Buddhist perspective on the self, the motivation circulation model which not only can integrate the motivation theories but also can show the motivation as a complicated and dynamic process is provided for the further study.
