The impact of aviation on the global climate has been discussed by the ICAO and the UNFCCC is supplemented by the Kyoto Protocol, which requires participating Annex I parties to reduce their overall emissions of greenhouse gases to at least 5% below 1990 levels during the period of 2008‐2012. The number of airlines such as British Airways, Silver‐Jet, and so on, which offer their passengers voluntary CO2 offsets in order to neutralize their air travel CO2 emissions, has increased recently. This paper discusses the viability of applying a Voluntary CO2 offsets program to Korean passengers. The present study gathers data from surveys given to responsible personnel in the airline industry in South Korea as well as air passengers bound for Europe, the United States, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and so on at research locations. The data will be analyzed by using a Regression Analysis of the SPSS 12 in order to explore the viability of a Voluntary CO2 offset program in Korea. As empirical research, the present study’s location is Incheon International Airport. The present study may contribute to the aviation industry in Korea becoming a signatory to the Post Kyoto Agreement.
