The study aims to analyze the speech act of greeting and praying used in the homepage greetings of Protestant and Buddhist institutions, which are the representative religions of Korea. Religious institutions should be open-minded because religion is for the purpose of missionary work. However, in terms of language, religious institutions of Korea have a closed nature. Although one out of two people in Korea is a religious person, but few people know about religious language. So this study compared the religious language shown in the homepage greetings, which is easy for ordinary people to see, because it is necessary to study the religious language linguistically. In the speech act of greeting, Protestant institutions used more religious expressions than Buddhist institutions. For the end greeting both Protestant and Buddhist institutions used ‘기원하다 (to wish)’ and ‘축원하다 (to pray in blessing)’ as verbs to the speech act of praying.
