The study aimed at examining beginner Korean EFL college learners’ perception and production of the English voiceless fricative and their relationship. In total, 42 students took a listening test as a perception test and a speaking test as a production test. The results indicated that the beginner learners’ overall perception preceded their production in all paired sounds, and their relationship was statistically significant (t=-2.573, *p＜.05), except for the /f-v/ and /ʃ-ʒ/ paired sounds. However, the students’ performance of each paired sound in both tests was different. That was, while they had the most difficulty in distinguishing the /f-v/ pair in the perception test, the /ɵ-ð/ paired sound was considered the most challenging for them in the production test. Based on the findings of the study, the pedagogical implications for teaching the English fricative were discussed.
