The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of a STEAM-based outdoor play program on children"s scientific inquiry ability, creative body expression and communication ability by developing a STEAM-based outdoor play program and applying it to children"s education field. To achieve this, a STEAM-based outdoor play program was developed and its effect was verified on five-year-old children from M childcare center located in G city divided into 25 children in an experimental group and 25 children in a control group. As results, there was a significant difference in the scientific inquiry ability, creative body expression ability, and communication ability of the children in the experimental group where the STEAM-based outdoor play program was applied as compared with the children in the control group. These results suggest that STEAM-based outdoor play programs can positively affect the improvement of children"s scientific inquiry ability, creative body expression ability, and communication ability, therefore, it is expected that these results can be used as basic data to search for possible strategies of STEAM education for children in the educational field.
