Purpose: This study aims to identify the most frequently occurring words, word pairs in the media climbers’ report and the words of high centralities in the semantic network. It also aims to analyze the news frame.
Method: This study collected data on climbing-related articles reporetd in national comprehensive daily newspapers and central broadcasting for the past 10 years from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2018. In order to search for articles related to mountain climbing, the study collected mountain climbing articles for central newspaper and central broadcasting. There were 3,129 artic les totaling 32,742 words. This data is composed through Excel and analyzed through the Netminer programD. ata were analyzed by frequency analysis, centrality analysis, and cohesion group analysis.
Results: The results are as follows. First, the frequency of importan wt ords was in order of exercise, price, joint, hiking, safety, self, healing, economy, rescuing, climbers, and concurrent word pairs were Korean-hobby, climbing-hiking, and Korean–climbing. Second, the main words showed similar tendencies in the three centralities. Koreans, exercise, spring, fall, etc. were highl ycentral. Third, the climbing network of the medi a was represented by five subgroups. Subgroup one consisted of altitude sickness and symptom, subgroup two of spring, mountain hiking and hiking, subgroup three of sports, subgroup four of Koreans, and subgroups five of climbers. In this study, we focused on newspaper articles nad broadcasting reports, but in the follow-up research, it is necessary to analyze the semantic network of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and etc.
Conclusion: Top words of climbing are similar regardless of centralitie sS.everal particular words and word groups symbolize Korean mountain climbing.
