"Is philosophy possible in this epoch?" is Alain Badiou"s first philosophical interest. Badiou declares the possibility of philosophy and presents four generic procedures of the truth as its condition: politics, science, art and love. But, in Badiou, philosophy cannot create truths themselves. Philosophy only deals with the compossibilité with the four generic procedures of truth and locates the places of the truths. Only these four generic procedures produce truth, and to that extent, the four procedures are the conditions for the possibility of philosophy. This paper will examine Badiou’s theory of truth and subject. We will first look at Badiou’s notion of Subject that holds the generic and indiscernible multiples in a situation as a faithful bearer of the hope of the advent of the future-antérieur truth. Establishing subject in this manner, Badiou goes beyond Descartes and Lacan. After that, we will analyze Badiou’s conception of truth as something that drills a hole in knowledge. This argument is developed through "love", one of the generic procedures of truth in Badiou.
