This paper seeks to highlight some common African religious values or ethics as resources for achieving some selected SDGs in Africa. One major hurdle faced by African countries is the access to sustainable funding to support SDG programs. While Africa is expected to mobilize significant domestic financial resources to support the attainment of the SDGs, non-pecuniary resources such as discipline, hard work, and dedication to duty, loyalty, responsibility, and achievement when properly harnessed, can also play an essential role in the African renaissance agenda and all policies towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This paper drew inspiration from how former President Park government until 1979 consciously relied on Korean Confucianism values among others to garner public support to achieve the Korean ‘Economic Miracle’. The critical SDGs that were of interest in this paper include: End extreme poverty; End hunger and promote sustainable agriculture; Ensure healthy lives for all; Achieve gender equality and empower women and girls; Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts and Conserve the oceans and marine resources.
