This study focused on the framework of SDGs as a useful tool for sustainable development of Gyeongsangnam-do keeping pace with UN SDGs. We argue that transforming the goal systems of local governments into sustainable development and SDGs system will contribute to activating collaborative governance as well as overcoming existing silo effects. For this we planned establishing process for SDGs and sustainable development indicators with the responsible department and Local Sustainability Council of Gyeongsangnam-do, and drew SDGs and sustainable development indicators of Gyeongsangnam-do through survey and town hall meeting. As a result, the SDGs of Gyeongsangam-do match well with UN SDGs and Korean National Master Plan for Sustainable Development. We suggest that Gyeongsangnam-do has to use this SDGs for performance management system, for the framework of SDGs will be useful for implementing of each department to achieve the SDGs by implementing each task. Moreover Gyeongsangnam-do can apply to cooperation and linkages among lower level local governments.
