The ultimate goal of sustainable development in national and local governments is improving their residents’ quality of life. This study aims to identify the subjective quality of life of residents in Gyeonggi province of Korea, and then to suggest alternatives to improving their subjective quality of life. Using 20,000 sample dataset, the study examined the quality of life of Gyeonggi residents in terms of their social, economic, and environmental status. The main findings of the study are as follows: First, the overall quality of life of Gyeonggi residents varied by individual characteristics and age. Second, factors affecting overall quality of life were job satisfaction, relationship with their neighbors, perception on health, and so on. The factors affecting overall quality of life also varied by age. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life, it is necessary to consider both individual characteristics and quality of life factors of sustainable development. In particular, because the quality of life and the affecting factors varied by age, it is necessary to create an age-based policy targeting different age groups.
