Nowaday when we check the statistical indicator of a Korean church, the future looks grim. The number of church members has decreased sharply. Especially, the number of young people has reduced significantly in a church. In this situation, the place where we can meet the young people the most is a military. A military is one of the most important fields of preaching the gospel. In a military, many chaplains and military missionaries preach the gospel eagerly. Thus, it shows remarkable achievements in terms of baptism. Thousands of soldiers are baptized in a short period of time in army training centers. Even the international press is interested in this baptism. However, giving the baptism after systematically and earnestly teaching Christian lessons to the soldiers and leading them to make profession of their faith in Christianity is far more important than giving the baptism as soon as possible. Because God focuses on our hearts. It is important for the soldiers who decide to receive baptism to have the faith that accepts Jesus Christ as their savior and believes the gospel of Jesus Christ. The soldiers who received the baptism through this process, can keep their faith after being discharged from the military. Therefore, the chaplains and military missionaries should give baptism after implementing an education of the baptism. In this paper, I will study an education of the baptism for Korean soldiers on the basis of Catechesis which is one of three teaching ministries in Paul. I will make an educational program in regard to an education of the baptism for Korean soldiers that consists of ten weeks.

요즘 한국교회의 여러 통계 지표들을 보면, 한국 교회의 미래는 어둡기만 하다. 대한예수교장로회 통합측 통계위원회가 2016년에 낸 통계에 의하면, 세례 교인수가 총 173만3000명으로 전년도 174만5000명보다 1만 2000명이 줄었다(대한예수교장로회통합 통계위원회, 2017). 교회 안의 노년층 인구는 증가하는 반면에 가장 급감하는 인구 층은 바로 청년층이다. 이러한 상황 가운데서 청년들을 제일 많이 만날 수 있는 곳이 바로 군대이다. 군대는 수많은 불신자들을 만날 수 있는 중요한 복음의 장이다. 이곳에서 수많은 군종목사들과 군선교사들이 땀 흘려서 예수 그리스도의 복음을 전하고 있다. 이러한 결과로 세례의 측면에서 놀라운 성과를 내고 있다. 진중세례식은 외신도 주목할 만큼 단시간에 수천 명에게 세례를 주는 엄청난 은혜의 현장이다. 그런데 세례를 많이 주는 것도 중요하지만 그보다도 체계적으로 기독교 신앙을 가르쳐주고, 기독교 신앙을 정확하게 고백하게 하고 나서 세례를 주는 것이 훨씬 중요하다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 중심을 보시는 분이시기 때문이다. 세례를 받는 사병이 정말 그 마음속에 예수 그리스도를 구주로 영접했는지, 예수 그리스도의 복음을 정확히 이해하고 믿고 고백하고 있는지가 중요한 것이다. 그래야 지속적인 신앙생활이 가능하고, 군대를 제대하고 나서도 신앙생활을 할 수 있기 때문이다. 사실 군대에서 세례 받은 많은 병사들이 군대에서 제대 하고 나서 교회를 다니지 않는다. 군대에서 세례 받은 많은 병사들이 제대하고 계속 교회에 다닌다면 이렇게 한국 교회 내에 청년 숫자가 급감하지는 않았을 것이다. 따라서 이제 기독교교육적인 관심을 가지고 철저한 세례교육을 시행하고, 그 다음 세례를 주어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 바울의 세 가지 교수사역 중 한 가지인 카테키시스에 근거해서 군대 안의 청년사병들을 위한 세례교육을 연구하고, 구체적으로 10주 과정의 세례교육 프로그램을 기획해보겠다.
