Based on the general meaning of traditional culture, this study compares Masangje(馬上才, Equestrian Feats), Sword Dance, and Swing of physical culture in traditional cultures of Korea, China, and Japan from an inter-relational perspective. Traditional culture reflects connection and expansion of the past and the present, and it is subjected to changes in the society. Among traditional cultures, physical culture was inherited as traditional martial arts, dance, and play in the three countries, affected by cultural exchanges between the countries. Masangje was one of the plays that gave great enjoyment to people in the three countries. It transformed into a form of martial arts in Korea, and into a form of play in China. Moreover, regarding Sword Dance, the natural movements of the time became the root for each country’s sword dance, and it is assumed that the different movements were introduced to each other when exchanging theatrical cultures including Sanak(散樂) and Baekhi(百戲) – plays passed down in the countries. Swing is one of the representative plays of women that could be seen in the all three countries. It was also one of the Annual Cyclical Rituals that were commonly held on Hansik (the 105th day after the winter solstice), and Dano (the fifth day of the fifth month of the year according to the lunar calendar). However, Swing significantly declined with modernization, and it can now only be seen in traditional Dano festival and regional festivals in the form of Swing experience and Swing competition. These traditional physical cultures were spontaneously brought into each of the three countries as they exchanged theatrical cultures each other; the cultures transformed and developed as the countries mutually protected them.
