The subject of Korean language has been using an authorized textbook in secondary schools since the 2007 revised curriculum. One of the reasons why people use an authorized textbook instead of a government designated ones is to seek educational diversity. This study will focus on the ‘description’ of the grammar section of the curriculum to see how it was actually implemented as a an authorized textbook.
In the process of making textbooks, centrifugal force to realize educational diversity and centripetal force to limit the quality of textbooks to more than the national level. What this study examined was whether the two forces are in balance in the textbook we are using now.
Thi sstudy focuses on the possibility that the descriptions presented by the curriculum in the structural relation in which the curriculum serves as a strong guideline for the writing of the textbook negatively affect the selection and composition of the contents of the authorized textbook.
Even if the textbook writers understood the purpose of the curriculum revision and created the textbook, they could not make a comprehensive interpretation of the peripheral contents presented in the curriculum in order to pass the textbook authorization system. The proposal of this study is as follows: First, it should refrain from expressing any restrictions on materials that are necessary to achieve the achievement criteria. Second, for the range of learning elements, clear standards must be provided to meet the purpose of the achievement criteria. Third, in the case of the achievement criteria in which the aspect of attitude is prominent, it is necessary to consider more ways to improve the linkage.
