The students majoring in Hotel & Tourism management, in order for them to get a good job in their job market after graduation, are required to have a communicative competence of English. However, under the current curriculum at their department, they are not given lots of opportunities either to speak or write English; eventually they can not improve their english skills as much as they can. To resolve this situation, we introduced so-called massed instruction in which the class room hours of an english-related course per week is expanded to two times as long as before. And then we divided our students into two groups; the one in the massed instruction class, the other in the regular class as before. To check the efficiency of the massed instruction, we gave the same tests to the two groups twice; before and after semester. With the results of our analysis, we draw a conclusion that as a whole, we can not find any clue that the massed instruction per se works well in improving English skills. However, it is also known that the massed instruction may work to build up the students` vocabulary depending on the situation.
