The purpose of this study was to investigate physical activity levels, class contents and teaching behavior in a high school PE class in Kyounggi Province. Subjects for this study were 273 male students in 8 classes of one high school. SOFIT(System for Observing Fitness Instruction Time) and pedometer. PAPS test were the tools to collect data. All subjects were selected by random sampling. Selected studensts were divided into Group A(PAPS 1~2 level) and Group B(PAPS 4~5 level) depend on their physical fitness levels: cardiovascular endurance, muscular power, muscular endurance and quickness. SOFIT was used to analyze physical activity, class contents and teaching behavior of students in PE class. Pedometer was used to check total amount of physical activity in the PE class. Frequency analysis and t-test were performed with collected data using IBM SPSS 21.0 statistical package. The results of this study showed that student activities were disclosed to be "very active". MVPA(Moderate-Vigorous Physical Activity) was 74%. In class contents analysis, frequency of "skill" in activities was high, and frequency of "instructs generally" was the highest teaching behavior. The total amount of physical activity through pedometer was proved to be 2885.53 steps(±831.44 steps). Interestingly, statistically significant difference was found between Group A and Group B. This fact demonstrates that if the level of students’ fitness is higher, more active participation will be guaranteed in the PE class. It indicates that to increase physical activity level of students in the PE class, it is necessary for PE teachers to secure a certain level of fitness of students as well as the target oriented class contents and teaching behavior.
