The Amazing Spider-man series, which filmed by Mark Webb, are somewhat different versions of previous Spiderman series. Among various Spiderman movies, these two Amazing series have something in common: transhumanism. In particular, transhumanism aims to produce enhanced bodies and elevated way of thinking. The most significant feature of transhumanism is ‘modifications’ for human body enhancement by combining diverse species together. In Amazing series, two different types of transhumans appear. First, Dr. Conners is transformed into a lizard-like figure; second, Max has power of electricity from an electrical eel. Both of them, however, have inferiority complexes owing to their appearance and lack of a body part. However, after being modified into transhuman bodies, they cannot overcome their personal barriers like others’ gazes and excessive desire to be more than transhumans. These two movies reveal a dark side of transhumanism and impossibility of overcoming endless human desires. Transhumanism can be one of solutions to present new types of next human generation but what is more worthy is that they should draw social consensus of their communities. Moreover, transhuman perspectives cannot always guarantee elevation of human mind and thinking despite having enhanced bodies. Therefore, transhuman society cannot provide a utopian society in which it is questionable that transhumans are better than humans.
