The purpose of this study is to develop textile pattern designs and digilog fashion cultural products by utilizing the prototype of traditional culture extracted from cultural resources in order to establish a specialty strategy for local cultural contents. To achieve this, the study selected the Hyojemunjado as source of Jeju traditional culture. Jeju’s Hyojemunjado is characterized mainly by the creative and unique formativeness. Character painting often contained images related to the characters featured inside characters, or composed stroke with symbolic iconography. The main subject of Hyojemunjado were stories that alluded to the Confucian virtues. The reason why 〈Hyo〉 is selected is to remind filial duty as an essential virtue in the contemporary community where the didactic meaning of 〈Hyo〉 has diminished. Therefore, this study was to develop 10 types of textile pattern designs using repetitive sequence of Richard M. Proctor and formative type of Wucius Wing, and to develop 7 types of digilog fashion cultural products(focused on bag design). A concept of digilog is a compound of word of digital and analog, and given the fusion between a cold and hard digital world view and a soft and tender analog one, a future paradigm can be developed or established. Especially with importance of design, analog sensitivity is suggested in a digital design to make a new value. As for materials for digilog bag design, 4 types of textile patten selected as per design intention were output by DTP on cotton canvas and poly canvas and were utilized embroidery, leather crafting, and Le Cartonnage as handicraft techniques. For design manufacturing tools, Adobe CS5(Photoshop & Illustrator) and TexPro Design CAD were used. In conclusion, as the study developed textile pattern designs by utilizing 〈Hyo〉 character among Jeju"s Hyojemunjado in order to construct competitive local cultural contents, and it demonstrated sufficient possibility for traditional cultural prototype to be used as a fashion cultural products. Furthermore, it is expected that textile patterns developed based on traditional cultural prototype could be applied to the development of fashion cultural products.
