The concept of meditel is seldom explained in the extant literature. Given that little is known about meditel and its attributes, the present research filled this gap by identifying the existing attributes of meditel. This study also attempted to discover whether the differences on the criticality of the attributes exist across Korean, Chinese, and Japanese international medical travelers and to uncover the cross-national differences on perceived value, quality, and visit intention. In order to achieve our research objectives, a total of 90 Korean medical tourists, 80 Chinese medical tourists , and 80 Japanese medical tourists were used as samples. Results of our empirical analysis found the general differences on eight meditel attributes (monetary saving, time saving, physical/bodily convenience, communication, availability/accessibility of medical package, confidentiality, safety, hotel product availability) across nations. In addition, perceived value, quality, and intention were also cross-nationally different . Particularly, Korean travelers were found to evaluate the importance of each attribute more than Chinese and Japanese tourists; ; and Chinese customers exhibited greater visit intention than Korean and Japanese travelers. Findings of this research can be useful for customizing the marketing and service strategies for medical tourists from different countries.
