Report Errors
Over 40% of Li he’s poems are directly related to music. During Tang Dynasty (Chinese Tang), musical notes of the Ancient Yuefu disappeared only leaving the lyrics, and the poems only created Yuefu poems without melody. Here, Movement of Xin Yuefu, proclaimed mainly with Yuan zhen and Bai ju yi, was the independent one based on Yuefu poems of Tang Dynasty from the past ones, content of which, ‘a new meaning’, and ‘independent form out of the Yuefu’ became popular. Among them, Li he’s Yuefu poems participated in the creation of ‘a new meaning’ of new Yuefu, while preserving the content and the form of the ancient Yuefu as ‘a song’. In the historical record, his works were performed actually among the performers, and it was determined that he perceived and created poems as lyrics to see the preface(序) of his own poem(詩). He had interest and talent in embodying musical sound into characters. He sometimes composed Yuefu by adopting the title of the ancient Yuefu, or sometimes composed Yuefu by creating the new title by himself. He sometimes accepted part of the content of the ancient Yuefu, mostly he created the works that reflected his own emotion, idea, and recognition on the society by transforming the content, form, sensitivity, and ideology of the ancient Yuefu. He stood in the leading part of the new trend of literary world, which was connected to 詞(Ci), while continuously pursuing the essence of Yuefu poem as the lyrics. He exerted his literary and musical talent to make Yuefu of the past present and characterful.
