The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of regular exercise program(cycling exercise, resistant exercise) on health-related factors(skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, fat free mass, BMD, muscle strength) and quality of life(pain, activities of daily living, jobs around the house, mobility, leisure-social activity, general health perception, and mental in the postmenopausal transition women. The subjects participated for this study were 100 postmenopausal transition women, and they were divided into two groups: experimental group(cycling exercise, n=50), comparative group(resistant exercise, n=50). It was planned by Non-equivalent control group pre & post test design for the experiment, statistical analysis was performed by ANCOVA (Analysis of covariance) with SPSS software program(version 15.0) and effect size. A statistical significance was accepted at the level of p<.05. The results were as follows. The health-related factors including skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, fat free mass, muscle strength, except for BMD were different between groups significantly. All factors in quality of life were different between groups significantly. In conclusion, resistant exercise is helpful to improve health-related factors. And aerobic exercise like as cycling is helpful to quality of life for the postmenopausal transition women.
