There are two fundamental reasons for considering police activities from the perspective of community integration approach. One is 'Human Respect' and the other is 'Realization of a community.' While 'Human Respect' is regarded as the essential value of every human being, 'the realization of a community' stress on the importance of a 'social order.' Thus, in order to find the new paradigm for innovating police activities, we need to specify the basic police role that guarantees both human rights and social order. For example, public service has concentrated on the protection of civil rights, especially those of the socially marginalized people and therefore police should think about the way to avoid disputes, struggles, conflicts and troubles, to reintegrate our community, to reconcile the offender and the victim rather than mindlessly keep punishing, restricting and trying to control members of our community. In this article, I explored an alternative police approach, that is, 'Social Integration Approach to police activities' in response to this question. Although a sudden shift to the newt paradigm might have limits, I believe that the door is still left open for police to serve community better from the perspective of community integration than a traditional approach.
