The objective of this study was to investigate interpersonal communication motives and relationship maintenance behaviors within father-daughter relationships in Thailand and the U.S.. Participants included 134 American father-daughter dyads and 154 Thai father-daughter dyads. Results revealed that there are differences between American and Thai father-daughter relationships in regards to relationship maintenance behaviors. There were no significant differences in uses of communication motives. Implications from these results and suggestions for future research are also discussed.
