This article aims to investigate on the Time-consciousness in Lee Sang"s poetry. As we know, the symmetry as the principle of a writing in Lee Sang"s poetry is very important. The symmetry in a horizontal layer are divided into two, i.e. "the ego in the mirror" and "the wife in the home". But this symmetry are destroyed by a broken mirror and a rupture of home. As a result, the symmetry in a vertical layer appears in his poetry. In this, there is a escape from the present to the future, that means his negative point of the present. Finally he is between the 19th century and the 20th century.
The desire to escape from the present is as follows. ① The recurrence of the past through speed control of subject"s movement. ② The solution of "the time-direction problem" through the naming of perspective. ③ The opening of new blood through the negation of the father. But these are failed in the search of the origin of subject and cosmos. "The dead child" stands as a symbol for this failure. Therefore, an aphorism such as "history is onus" summarizes the Time-consciousness in Lee Sang"s poetry.
