The internet protocol television (IPTV) has attracted attention from the mid-2000s, and since 2015, it has been becoming popular apace. However, there are still different views on the popularization of IPTV. One view is that IPTV has already been popularized and also saturated; another is that it has just entered upon its popularization; the other is that it is still staying in early broadcasting environments. At this, this study aimed to evaluate the market position of IPTV by using the Chasm Theory. With the theory based on the technology acceptance model, this study analyzed hi-tech products and services that were most similar to IPTV. In this way, this study evaluated the market position of IPTV using the produced data, and predicted its futurity. This study is expected to give suggestions for mapping the direction of IPTV and related industries.
