The purpose of this study is to closely examine the effects on their psychological skills, competitive state anxiety, attention, and athletic performance by applying a psychological skills training program targeting teenage billiard players.
To achieve the objective of this study, the psychological skills training program for billiard players was formed through expert group meeting with 17 teenage billiard players, 1 billiard coach, and 2 professors with a major in sports psychology based on prior researches and several materials.
The psychological skills training, which was developed in this way, was applied to 8 teenage billiard players. To verify its effects, it measured preㆍpost psychological skills test, competitive state anxiety, attention, and athletic performance.
The findings, which were elicited by a series of process, they are as follows. First, as a result of carrying out psychological skills test in teenage billiard players, the psychological skills training was indicated to have positive effect on wake regulation, anxiety, goal setting, crisis management, self-confidence, and attention. Second, the psychological skills training reduces cognitive state anxiety and physical state anxiety out of competitive state anxiety in teenage billiard players. Even the state self-confidence was improved to significant level. Third, the psychological skills training was indicated to enhance attention(BET, BIT, NAR, OET) in teenage billiard players. Fourth, the psychological skills training was indicated to have effect on improvement in High run and Inning, Average factors out of athletic performance factors in teenage billiard players.
