This study discusses the elements and scope of Korean pronunciation education. Good pronunciation is very important for oral communication which consists of utterances. Therefore, the aim of Korean pronunciation education should be to teach Korean learners to pronounce an utterance correctly. But previous discussion of and research on Korean pronunciation education focused on the education of segments, suprasegments, syllable structure, and phonological phenomena within a word boundary. For an adequate pronunciation education, it is necessary to consider the pronunciation of utterance. The scope of Korean pronunciation education needs to be broadened to include an utterance which carries a meaning in communication. I try to catch elements of the pronunciation of utterance in oral communication and show three elements including segments, suprasegments, and prosodic units should be learned for Korean pronunciation education. Moreover, it is shown that Korean pronunciation education is also related to speaking, listening, writing, and reading.
