This article explores the linguistic peculiarities of the Soviet chastushki which vividly illuminate a range of popular and officially encouraged images of the new Soviet woman. Chastuski have appeared in the Russia countryside during the 1850s-60s as a unique vehicle for expressing candidly the true opinions and concerns of the Russia`s lower classes, and their feelings and ideas that could not otherwise be stated. Russian women have been highly active in the composition and performance of the personal and frank chastushki. The chastushka was neither a static nor a pure folk genre. As a genre, the chastushka has existed in Russia for about a century. Chastushki classify by regions of origin as well as its types. Soviet chastushki have many differences compared with the traditional chastushki. Especially there is no morpho-syntactical parallelism in Soviet chastushki. This article mainly focuses on this point - the rhythmic structure and functional sentences of Soviet chastushki. The chastushka is formally a quatrain, which means a stanza of 4 lines, rhymed or unrhymed. While both rhymed and unrhymed chastushki may be encountered, the former is heavily prevailed. Whereas they do allow for a certain degree of metrical freedom, the chastushki seem to be much more restricted in this respect than other Russian poetical forms. As a result, it is possible to represent the underlying rhythmic structure of Soviet chastushki. In addition, a lexical semantic analysis was attempted in this article. Official values were encoded in Soviet chastushki by means of appropriation : the lyrical genre was turned into a vehicle for the recognition of previously unnoticed jobs and a source of some satisfaction to women. In traditional chastushki a large number of Russian women have expressed their love, romance, marriage, family relationship, and other facets of personal life. Many Soviet chastushki, however, have featured the young women who were proud of their achievements and who enjoyed the opportunity to work with men and to compete with them.
