Though people live they are essentially dead because they spend their day in a state of torpor. They may seem alive with passion but actually they are captured by pathological forces. These passions are not more than defense mechanism against fear rather that true passion that comes from the true self. These kinds of people need courage for seeking spirituality from the bottom and confronting their pathological forces. Evagrius Ponticus said that “If you want to know about God, know yourself first”. By having understanding about one’s reality and by extension one’s world, we can get one step closer to God. When you reach the limits or suffer despite your good intentions, just adapting or escaping from these realities is not a good choice. Put down all the things in life and depend on God. Divine nature is from the bottom not from the top. Wilfred Bion, a modern psychoanalysis, said that “the human mind can be developed by dealing with truth”. He researched the process of how the truth evolves and what blocks the truth. Psycho therapy reveals the truth and provides the chance to progress. Thus by aiming for ‘spirituality from the bottom’ and by facing with one’s tendency to retreat we can achieve spiritual transformation and progress.
The spirituality from the bottom, a concept from spiritual theology, and fac-ing our tendency to retreat, an observation from psychoanalysis, are two very similar things. We can get a more extended and integrated understanding by researching the intersection between the two concepts. To do this, I am going to talk about the value of spirituality from the bottom and its applications for daily life. Also I will deal with pathological organizations and huddle for transformation. Eventually I will present the way to spiritual transformation and spirituality progress.
