This study addresses factors that influences strategies of media firm. particularly cable TV. Adopting Picard’s four factors model, this paper takes CJ case study focusing on environment, policy, market, and firm. In the first stage, from1995 to 1998, when cable TV industry suffered from strict regulation, CJ entered cable TV industrywith a small portion. In the second stage, from1999 to 2008, when deregulation of cable TV industry occurred, CJ grew rapidly with application of vertical and horizontal M&A. In the third stage, from 2009 to 2012, when media regulation was far liberalized and globalized, CJ became a largest cable TV company with CJ E&M in the content sector and CJ Hellovision in the platform sector respectively. This case study clearly shows four factors influences growth of a cable TV company.
