The continuity from David`s kingship to solomon`s means more to the Chronicler than the natural succession. With reporting only Seul`s death, Chronicler presented the anointing of David and his attempt to bringing of the Ark to Jerusalem and then his preparations for building a Temple in Jerusalem. And Solomon built the temple with all the arrangements concerning site, material, personnel and financial support had been made by David. So then Solomon brought the Ark to the temple and was addressed the dynasty to be established for ever. Therefore Solomon, the builder of the temple, is identified as the ideal king, and not David, the chosen of God and the founder of the monarchy. Thus there was also a progression in Saul-David-Solomon. First, David stood in contrast to Saul. Saul`s house was at an end, David`s house would be established; Saul consulted a medium, David inquired of the Lord; Saul`s head and armour had been taken by Philistines to the temple of their gods, David took the Philistine gods, burnt them. And Solomon fulfilled the temple with all that David had planned and prepared for it. Saul didn`t do right, David began to do right, and Solomon turn things for the better. The chronological relation of Saul-David-Solomon by Chronicler reflects restoration of exilic community after the fall of Judean kingdom. Saul`s death by neglected th Ark means Judean exile wit violated God`s covenant and neglected His commandments. And the process of restoration after the exile is under way after David`s positive action in connection with the construction of temple. Similarly the exile seek God for restoration to observe the sabbath and the commandments. And David`s designation of Solomon as the builder of the temple shows the responsibility to reconstruct the temple of the exile returning to Judah. A reason why David couldn`t build the temple and the exile had no temple, they need the period of rest that was necessary to build the temple because of shedding so much blood. Attempting to give an unified account of period, Chronicler portrayed Solomon reflecting the demand the identity of the exile.
