The article aims to suggest some diakonic tasks to restore the nature of church in Korea. In the first part of the article the theological foundation of Diakonie is described. Under the concept of God`s kingdom Jesus` Diakonie, existence mode of the trinitarian God, and the Diakonie of the church are articulated. Discussing Diakonie as a nature of the church, the second part deals with the Diakonie in the terms of the nature of the church in the Reformation tradition and formulates a diakonic ecclesiology in the modem society. The Reformation is defined as a church movement to become true church of which marks are proclamation of the Word and celebration of the sacraments. Through these the church serves the world and through serving the church become a true church. However, the article discloses limitations of the Diakonie of the Reformation ecclesiology through criticizing the examples of J. H. Wichem and P. Philippi who formulated their diakonic theologies in the traditional theological viewpoint. Further, the article articulates a modem diakonic ecclesiology briefly, based on missio dei ecclesiology, pneumatic ecclesiology of life, and diakonic spirituality. The third part focuses to analyze how the Diakonie contributes to restoration of the nature of the church. The article analyzes four diakonic dimensions of the church: local church, inter-church, socio- political and prophetic, and ecological dimensions. In addition, the article discusses diakonic activities through God`s grace, through liturgical and ecclesiological dimensions, and through ecumenical solidarities. Further, the article analyzes the diakonic activity problems of Korean churches and proposes actual tasks and theological tasks such as diakonic ecclesiology, diakonic layman theology, prophetic Diakonie in the horizon of kingdom of God, and diakonic spirituality. Finally, the urgent necessities of church renewal such as church structure and pastoral structure are mentioned for the diakonic activation of Korean churches. The church which serves(diakonein) can be a true church whose nature can be restored.
