E. B. Tylor defines the culture: "Culture or civilization, taken in its wide ethnographic sense, is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, moral law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society." When man define the culture in so wide sense, it is the most important to have the right "World-View" and "Value-View". Thus this article deals with the corelation between Jesus' proclamation of the Kingdom of God und the Culture.
It is clear that the Kingdom of God is the central theme of Jesus's teaching and working. Jesus's conception of the Kingdom of God has especially continuity with the Old Testament promise and apocalyptic Judaism, but he formed a unique and new idea of the Kingdom of God as his central message. The uniqueness of his notion of the Kingdom of God lay in a dialectical relation between it's present character und future character. According to the usage of Jesus' terminology, the Kingdom of God is not only an apocalyptic domain of redemption, but also God's dynamic and eschatological rule. It was already realized in jesus's person and actions. Demons are driven out, men are healed and sins forgiven, rights are supported and relations improved. But this Kingdom was fulfilled yet not. It will ultimately be fulfilled in the future. "Already" and "yet not" of the Kingdom of God determine the existence and life of all christians. Christians became already the children of God, who call him Father. As their "Father" God cares always for them.(Mt 6:25-34) But it is not yet the end. God will come as King in his right time. The tension of the Present und Future of God's Kingdom are combined in Lord's Pray.(Lk 11:2-4; Mt 6:9:13) Lord's Pray see everyday life in the light of the eschatology and eschatology in the light of the present life. This tension of "already" and "yet not" of the Kingdom of God decides that of "present" (Gabe) and "task" (Aufgabe) of the christians. The Kingdom of God is a place where God become God, and his good reign is accomplished. God wants to become your Lord right now and to establish his Kingdom on earth. His Coming transcends space and time. Those facing the worlds of the final judgment cannot just stay uninvolved as if it had nothing to do with their actions. Man has to align himself into the realization of God's moral will "already now", preparing for the concrete end.
Culture, in it's wide sense, means the lifestyle and life-pattern which one lives. Then, the Culture of the Kingdom of God is to accomplish the principle and will of God - goodness and love and service-in the world. Therefore every christians have to transform the distorted culture in the world into the "Value-View" of the Kingdom of God. Because culture is the christian Mission.
