This study conducted Qigong and meditation for 60 min. per session by three times a week for total four weeks with 10 male university volleyball players in order to examine changes of self-esteem, psychological well-being and blood pressure when they trained Qigong and meditation. Measurement of self-esteem and psychological well-being was performed twice before and after four-week training and that of blood pressure was also done twice for 60 min on the last day of training before and after training. As a result of analysis, self-esteem showed increasing trend before and after training, but there was no statistically significant difference. Psychological well-being showed significant increase only in well-being of two sub-factors and factors of satisfaction and total psychological well-being tended to increase, but there was no statistically significant difference. Blood pressure showed a significant decrease only in systolic blood pressure before and after training. These results suggested that application of Qigong and meditation training programs close to Koreans` sentiment had a potential to improve athletes` affirmative mental health. However, considering the short research period for 4 weeks, two measurements, limitation without comparative group and changeability of subjects` mental states by their daily stresses and affairs, further research with review of research methods is needed.
