The purpose of this study was to identify the organizational factors and leadership behaviors of sports center, and thus contribute the basic materials for the effective establishment of management strategy of sports center. In this study, researcher has sampled the population of 392 persons including 76 managers and 316 staffs who are working at the private and public sports centers in Korea. "Leadership Behavior Discription Questionnaire(LBDO)" which was developed by the Leadership Laboratory of Ohio State University and Hersey & Blanchard`s(1972) "Leadership Behavior Questionnaire" were used as the instruments for the data gathering and as the basis of preliminary questionnaire. The preliminary questionnaire was tested through the pretest for the suitability and the applicability. When the validity and reliability are proved, the revised questionnaire was used for data gathering. For the data analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression techniques were used in the data. This study method and data analysis gave the following results. 1. The perception on the task-oriented leadership behavior of sports center member was influenced by the structural characteristics of sports center such as its type. 2. The perception on the relation-oriented leadership behavior of sports center member was influenced by the structural characteristics of sports center such as its function.
