Big data was once again selected as one of the top 10 Strategic IT Trends to look out for at the 2014 Gartner Symposium ITxpo, marking its position as a notable trend and issue in the global ICT industry. Moreover, in line with such a trend, it has been gaining greater strength as the technology has become integrated into the fields of medicine, security alarm systems, transportation and other fields related to everyday life. There has been a gradual increase in the utilization of big data analysis technology even in the film industry, but the reality is that there are insufficient structural studies. This study will investigate notable recent cases where big data technology was utilized in the film industry and propose solutions, which may allow for increased utilization of big data in the Korean film industry.
