This study was an empirical investigation of performance of the new hotel product development and press used in the hotel industry in Korea. This study had two purposes. First, to find the new product development process factors which give influence on the performance of new hotel product; second, to identify the degree of importance of the new product development process factors which give much influence on the performance of new hotel product. A questionnaire survey was conducted to 240 hotels in Korea from September 5 to December 31, 1997. 87 responses were received with a 36.3 percent response rate. The data was coded and analyzed with SPSSWIN 6.1. Factor analysis was used to extract important dimensions of new product development process. Reliability analysis was employed to find the reliability of items of each dimension. Correlation analysis was used to find the relationship between the performance and new hotel product development process. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to find the degree of importance of factors. A summary of the results is as follows: 1. The surveyed hotels generally accepted some type of formal new product development process including market research, launching products, new product testing, idea generation and screen, new product development, business analysis, departmental cooperation, and advertisement and public relations(AD & PR). 2. Among 8 new product development process factors, market research, idea generation and screening, launching product, business analysis, AD & PR, product development had significant relationship with the performance. 3. Further, launching product was the most important process to the performance of new hotel product. Market research, idea generation and screening, AD & PR, new product development followed it in order of the degree of importance to performance of new hotel product.
