The purpose of this study was to analyze body composition and life style practice of university students. Subjects were 314 students(male 185, female 129) of K university in Kyonggi-Do. Body composition analysis and questionnaire about life style were assessed. Analysis of data was done by use of t-test, chi-square test, and correlation analysis with SPSS program(version 12.0). In items of life style, health promotion behaviors were non-smoking, moderate consumption of coffee, relaxing, and activity of leisure. While, health risk behaviors were non-practice of health examination, irregular intake of diet, heavy drinking, and lack of physical activity. In the difference of life style according to gender, male students showed significantly higher smoking rate(p< .001), physical activity(p< .001), activity of leisure(p< .001), and sufficient sleeping(p< .05) then female students. In the grade of body fat rate according to gender, male students showed higher rate of obesity then female students, but not significant. According to BMI grade, male students showed significantly higher obesity rate(p<.001) then female students. Body fat rate and BMI was shown significantly higher correlation(p< .001). From this study, life style items such as smoking, regular exercise, consumption of breakfast and coffee were intimately associated with body composition in university students. Therefore, findings of this research might provide significant basic data for health promotion of university students.
