The purpose of this study was to investigate the participations of health promotion related life styles on university students in Korea and Japan. The total subjects were 1,127 university students (743 from Korea and 384 from Japan) and they conducted health promotion related life styles questionnaire. The questionnaire includes smoking, drinking, physical activity, breakfast, optimal sleeping, resting, snack and coffee consumption, balanced meal, leisure activity and regular health examination. After the data collection, the differences of each life style according to country, sex and dwelling patterns were analyzed by x(C)~-test with using SPSS program version 17.0. In our findings, university students in Korea presented significantly higher practices on smoking and drinking and less breakfast compared to those in Japan. Additionally, they presented significantly lower participation on health examination. However, they conducted more regular exercise, optimal sleeping, leisure activity and resting than Japanese students. Compared to Japanese students, both Korean male and female students presented significantly higher smoking and drinking practices, but they conducted significantly lower health examination and leisure activity. Japanese Students who is living in their own home had more breakfast than those in Korea but students who are not living in their own home had less breakfast in both countries. Having an optimal life styles is important in university students for their lifelong health improvement therefore, it should be emphasized the importance of public health education in the university.
